Syndemic Vulnerability

The health of people with a lower socioeconomic position is generally worse because they live in socially worse circumstances, which often leads to stress and, in turn, to other health problems. This pattern of socioeconomic clustering of health problems is often referred to as syndemic. With this research, we want to reduce health inequalities by increasing the resilience of communities to combat syndemic vulnerability. The neighbourhoods and citizens will form the focus of this approach. Through co-creation in two neighbourhoods the project develops a resilience method to tackle structural mechanisms that lead to syndemic vulnerability in the neighbourhood or community.
