Urban-Cement: CO2-reduction and energy saving in the cement industry
The cement industry is an energy-intensive industry and is responsible for 4% of global CO2 emissions. The cement and concrete industry has set a target to reduce these emissions, as laid down in the Green Deal Concrete.
Aim
ASCEM has developed a technology for the production of a new type of cement from secondary raw materials (bottom ash, paper ash, recycled concrete, denatured asbestos, metal slag and recycled aluminium). This should lead to 24% energy savings and 60% CO2 reduction. In addition, through the use of secondary raw materials, the project contributes to the circular economy.
