WomenTechEU launches new call for applications: Empowering Women in Deep Tech
The European Commission has announced the launch of the latest call for applications under the WomenTechEU initiative, aimed at supporting women-led deep tech startups across Europe. The program is designed to foster gender diversity in the tech sector, providing critical support to early-stage companies led by women. The new call for applications will be open from the 1st of August until 30 September 2024.
About WomenTechEU
WomenTechEU is a 2-year EU-funded initiative with 4 calls for applications. The initiative is part of the European Union’s broader efforts to close the gender gap in the tech industry. Each awarded company will receive a grant of € 75,000 and these participants will gain access to a personalised business development programme which includes mentoring, coaching and targeted training among other options.
Funding for development and growth
Applicants have the flexibility to allocate the grant towards activities that will accelerate their business’s development, growth, and sustainability. The funds can be used for upgrading the business model, consolidating the business plan, validating the business model, updating the financial plan, obtaining certifications, developing an IP strategy, creating a commercial plan, conducting market analysis and customer validation, performing technical or clinical assessments, and finding partners and investors. Independent experts will assess the appropriateness of the proposed activities to ensure they support the company’s growth and development.
Who can apply for WomenTechEU?
The program is open to early-stage deep tech startups that are founded or co-founded by women and registered in an EU member state or an associated country. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong technological foundation and a clear potential for market impact.
