Second call European Urban Initiative open for applications
The second call of the European Urban Initiative (EUI) opened on 31 May. The European Urban Initiative is an instrument for projects addressing challenges in urban areas in the European Union. The grant supports cities in launching these projects and helps them achieve climate neutrality by 2050. The second call has a total budget of € 120 million. You can now submit your application until 5 October 2023.
Is your project eligible for funding?
The EUI is particularly interesting for small and medium-sized cities. Urban authorities, associations, groups of urban authorities or local administrative organisations of cities with at least 50,000 inhabitants can apply. To be eligible for funding, your project must have focus on one of the three following topics:
- Greening Cities: to experiment and deliver tangible innovative solutions on green infrastructure to better address biodiversity, pollution, resource and climate challenges.
- Sustainable Tourism: to support long-term green and digital transformation and resilience of the tourism ecosystem.
- Leveraging talent in shrinking cities: particularly in regions identified by the European Commission in the Communication ‘Harnessing talent in Europe’s regions’, to retain and attract talent.
