Overview of all LIFE calls and deadlines in 2023
The LIFE programme is an important instrument from CINEA to stimulate the development and implementation of European nature and climate policy. You can apply for LIFE grants for, for example, a project that prevents noise pollution or enhances biodiversity. Several LIFE openings opened in mid-April. What is the LIFE programme about?
The LIFE programme consists of four sub-programmes:
- Nature and Biodiversity;
- Circular economy and Quality of life;
- Climate change mitigation and adaptation;
- Clean Energy Transition (CET);
All types of organisations, from companies to NGOs, can apply for the LIFE grant. Projects that have a real impact on European ambitions related to the four sub-programmes are eligible for LIFE grants.
LIFE calls and deadlines
There are several types of eligible projects within the LIFE programme. The calls with deadlines below opened for applications around April 2023.

How much funding can you receive?
About € 5,4 billion budget is available for the time period 2021-2027. For SAPs, the grant percentage is around 60%. Within the environment sub-programme, this can rise to 67% or 75%. The grant amount per project averages €1.5 to €2.5 million. Within the CET sub-programme, the maximum grant percentage is 95%. The grant contribution per project ranges between €0.5 – €2.5 million.
