New CEF Energy call 2025 open for applications
On 3 April 2025, a new CEF Energy call for proposals was opened. Ambitious businesses, researchers, and public authorities can seize this opportunity to invest in innovative projects that aim to improve and make the European energy sector more sustainable. The current call includes both a ‘studies’ component and a ‘works’ component. A total budget of € 600 million is available for this call. Applications may be submitted until 16 September 2025.
What can you apply for under CEF Energy?
CEF Energy enables investment in the improvement of existing infrastructure and the development of new infrastructure to strengthen the European energy network. Suppose you are initiating projects in the fields of electricity, smart electricity grids, CO₂ networks, hydrogen, or electrolysers. In that case, you may be eligible for funding, depending on whether your project is listed on the PCI list.
PCI List (Projects of Common Interest)
To be eligible for CEF Energy grant, your project must be included on the European PCI list. A project must contribute to established European objectives, increase competition, and have a significant impact on the market in at least two European countries.
Applying for CEF Energy in 2025
The 2025 call has an impressive budget of € 600 million. This budget is allocated across two topics:
- CEF-E-2025-PCI-PMI-WORKS
- CEF-E-2025-PCI-PMI-STUDIES
Applications for both components of CEF Energy can be submitted from 3 April 2025 until 16 September 2025.
