Innovation Fund calls 2024 and auction (IF24 Auction) open for proposals
The Innovation Fund 2024 calls and Auction are now open for proposals since 3 December 2024. This grant allows companies and consortia to develop low-carbon or carbon-reducing technologies. Besides the usual Innovation Fund calls, an annual auction aimed at scaling up renewable hydrogen projects is also open for proposals. The Innovation Fund Auction for hydrogen, named ‘IF24 Auction’ is open until 20 February 2025.

Innovation Fund 2024 Net Zero Technologies
The Innovation Fund 2024 Net Zero Technologies call consists of five sub-calls. A budget of € 2.4 billion has been made available for this call. Projects focussed on breakthrough technologies for renewable energy, energy-intensive industries, energy storage, and carbon capture, utilisation and storage can apply for funding within this call. Proposals can be submitted until 24 April 2025.
Innovation Fund 2024 – Batteries
A budget of € 1 billion has been made available for the ‘Innovation Fund 2024 – Batteries’ call. Projects that focus on producing cells that can be used in batteries for electric vehicles are eligible for funding. Proposals for this call can also be submitted until 24 April 2025.
Innovation Fund IF24 Auction
Besides the regular calls, the 2024 auction ‘Innovation Fund 2024 Auction – RFNBO Hydrogen’ has also opened. Over € 1.2 billion has been made available for this auction by the European Union. This budget has been increased by € 200 million compared to the previous year. From this total budget, € 200 million has been reserved for projects within the maritime sector and € 1 billion for renewable hydrogen projects regardless of the industry. To be eligible for this auction, the project must meet the minimum installed capacity of 5 MWe at the electrolyser. You can submit your bidding for the IF24 Auction until 20 February 2025.
