Develop your blockchain innovation with the TruBlo Open Call

Our society is faced with an increasing amount of disinformation (fake news) which makes it difficult to know which information is trustworthy. We must therefore look at ways to retrieve this trust. The objective of the TruBlo Open Call No. 3 is to research the possibilities of blockchain: can we use new scalable blockchain technology for new protocols, apps, solutions or platforms? And can we combine this with content to ensure trustworthy and reliable content? Do you have an answer to these questions? For whom and what?

Researchers, innovators and developers from all kinds of organisations (academia, SMEs, startups, high tech companies and so on) established in an EU Member State are invited to apply for the TruBlo call. You are able to receive funding for defining and implementing small scale research projects on one of the following two topics:

• Trust and reputation on blockchains: targets innovative applications, technologies, technical approaches and methodologies that increase the level of trust in blockchain-based information exchange. The emphasis is on user generated content on the internet and social media.
• Proof-of-validity and proof-of-location: focusses on innovative mechanisms that are able to increase transparency and trustworthiness of user-generated genuine content. Think of additional verification mechanisms such as Proof-of-location or Proof-of-validity.

When to apply?

Applications can be submitted from 27 January to 30 March, 2022. The call is broken into two phases:

1. Innovation phase (9 months): up to 15 projects are selected to develop their proposed project and prepare a publication (whitepaper or scientific article) describing their solution. Your project can receive a total funding of € 75.000 that will be distributed over sprints of three months.
2. Progress phase (6 months): three projects from phase 1 will be selected to further develop activities associated with the demonstration/piloting as well as promotion and exploitation of their project. This also includes building an MVP (minimum viable product) as demonstrator and aiming to engage new customers, partners and/or investors. You are able to receive and additional funding of € 100.000 that will be distributed in two sprints of three months.
