Active Assisted Living (AAL) 2020 call is open for proposals
Active Assisted Living (AAL) is a European funding programme. AAL supports the development of innovative ICT-technology designed to help us continue our lives the way we want and to be independent for as long as possible. Projects are eligible for funding when they work towards market-ready products and services that make a real difference to people’s lives – for those facing some of the challenges of ageing and for those who care for older people if they need help.

Do you work for an SME, an R&D institute or an end-user organisation? And are you developing new innovative technologies or services? The deadline for submission of the 2020 call is may 22th. The topic of the 2020 call Is Healthy Ageing with the Support of Digital Solutions.
The AAL Call 2020
This year’s call is somewhat more flexible than previous calls, in particular the scope, project size and duration of the projects. Innovative, transnational collaborative projects focused on developing new ICT products, associated services and their final implementation are eligible for funding. These solutions should be aimed at older adults or other AAL population groups such as people in the transition phase from a working life to retirement age.
Of note is that the wishes and needs of the involved end-users in combination with the demands from the other stakeholders involved – i.e providers and payers – should have a critical role in the project. Markets to be targeted are either;
- Private consumer markets: covering aspects such as well-being, lifestyle, independence, work, fun and comfort.
- Regulated markets: covering aspects such as health and social care, and housing.
Both “Collaborative Projects” and “Small Collaborative Projects” will be funded through this Call and must consist at least three independent eligible organisations from at least three different AAL countries participating.

- The project must produce a realistic trial set-up at the end of the project;
- The project must have proactive end-user involvement throughout the life of the project;
- The proposal has defined market segment(s) use cases and target group(s) and address the wishes and need of these specific group(s);
